Cinemas are divided into: year-round (multi-screen, single-screen) and seasonal (summer open and summer closed).
At present, multiplex cinemas with auditoriums of different capacities are predominantly used in cities.
Cinemas located in the city centers of large cities are divided into several specialized types. The largest cinema of the city is designed with a large hall of universal purpose (cinema, concert, meeting), with small specialized halls (stereo cinema, cartoons). This type of cinema has a lobby with a checkroom, which sometimes serves all types of events.
Multiprogramme cinema, which has several halls of small capacity and presents the viewer a choice of films, with minimal waiting time for the next session. The “express” type chronicle-documentary movie theaters can operate in a continuous movie screening mode. The “leisure” type of cinema is designed for the viewer who has free time. Most of them are young people, who not only want to watch the film, but also to relax, socialize and dance before and after the movie. This type of cinema has two halls, of which the large one is a concert hall.
The facilities include lounges and games rooms (arcade), a buffet, a checkroom, and artistic cinemas. Can be co-operated with a cafe and a dance hall, which may work in conjunction with him or autonomously.
Children’s cinemas are close to leisure cinemas, and additionally have rooms for teachers.
Classification of cinemas by compositional techniques is based on the mutual arrangement of foyer and auditoriums. Most often, both foyer and auditoriums are located at first floor level (horizontal scheme), less often the auditoriums are located above the foyer and other auxiliary premises (vertical scheme). A separate group are cinemas with a multipurpose hall or concert halls with a capacity of 2,500-4,000 seats and their auditorium space is close to the theater.
