What is the difference between theater and film?

  • First of all, in theater, the performances take place on stage and are played by live actors. In a movie theater, watching a film made on a big screen, we are just watching staged pictures, there is no live acting.
  • Secondly, there are some special effects in movies that are embodied by editing (explosions, fights, etc.) that cannot be done in the theater.
  • Thirdly, there are a lot of takes to make some scenes in a movie, but in the theater all the action takes place in real time, and it is impossible to reenact some scenes.
  • Fourthly, cinema is the final result of a certain script, but theater is a creative process where the actors can improvise.
